BCSO Moves Forward with Body Camera Project
The sheriff’s office is one of the few agencies in the nation to equip deputies with body cameras, both on patrol and in the jail. Axon allows members of the community, who are involved in or witness an incident, to upload video evidence to an online portal, Axon Citizen. This evidence will allow BCSO investigators to use those videos during active investigations. Click here to read more

on dangerous and illegal gambling rings.

“It is a quality of life issue and quite frankly is something the Sheriff’s Office of years past hasn't targeted to the fullest extent. But we are letting them know we are putting them on notice. This Sheriff’s Office has the skill set. It is a priority and we will be actively enforcing it," Salazar said.

Sheriff Salazar talks about crime prevention,
task force formation

“We’ve made some strides. We’re not quite where we want to be just yet, but we’ve made some strides,” Salazar said. “The crime rate is down 9.58 percent in this area compared to last year. Ventura, the area I’m talking about (with the random shooting), is actually down 35.4 percent from last year. We’re definitely making strides where we need to be making them.”
